The Truth About Weight Loss trimfast
In a countryand worldwith a growing obesity problem, many men would like nothing more than a magic pill that enables them to drop weight quickly and easily, with no side effects, leaving them looking the way they want to look. Unfortunately that's not reality. While it would not be fair to characterize all diet pills and weight loss products as outandout scams, typically either their effectiveness is dubious, or they carry with them significant risks and side effects, or both. In 2010, the Mayo Clinic researched ten popular over the counter weight loss pills and published its conclusions on its website. Of the ten, nine were deemed "possibly effective," "possibly ineffective," or "insufficient reliable evidence to rate." Only one earned a rating of "effective." This was Alli, the nonprescription version of Orlistat, which is designed to decrease the absorption of dietary fat into the body.
So is this the miracle drug? Before you get too excited, note that in yearlong clinical trials, even the stronger prescription version of this "effective" pill worked for only about half the trial participants, it reduced their body mass by just 5% on average, and many of those for whom it did work gained back some or all of what they'd lost once they stopped taking it. So it's more "effective" than doing nothing, but it's hardly a miracle.
Askmen examined three prominent diet trim FAST, and Bontril, and the aforementioned Orlistatand was similarly unimpressed with their usefulness for helping men lose weight. It concluded that most weight loss products are amphetaminebased, and that whatever limited effectiveness they have for some people is outweighed by their possible downside, such as addiction, increased heart rate, heart palpitations, increased blood pressure, fatigue, insomnia, diarrhea, and more.
Men's Health too was unable to recommend any of the weight loss pills it researchedEphedrafree Hydroxycut, Xenadrine EFX, Trim Spa Completely Ephedra Free, Prolab Therma Pro Ephedra Free, or Zantrex 3. In each case it found the evidence of effectiveness dubious. Its advice was to skip the pills and get less risky, at least as effective, versions of the same active ingredients directly from food. The pectin in apples, the casein in cottage cheese, and the omega3 fatty acids in fish all have modest appetite suppressive effects, at least as much as the highlytouted and often highpriced diet pill alternatives.
While some diet pills can help some men to lose weight to some degree, it would typically be far better to focus on the old fallbacks of an improved diet and exercise to lose weight. As the Mayo Clinic concludes its discussion of over the counter weight loss pills: "The reality is that there's no magic bullet for losing weight. The most effective way to lose weight and keep it off is through lifestyle changes: Eat healthy, lowcalorie foods, watch portion sizes and be physically active.
